A Russian woman rescued from slavery in Myanmar was handed over to diplomats for shipment to the Russian Federation

A Russian citizen who was rescued from a Myanmar-based detention center was handed over to representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission for subsequent return to her homeland. This was announced on July 7 by the press service of the Russian Embassy in the republic.

"A citizen of the Russian Federation <...> was handed over to the staff of the Russian Embassy in Thailand today to provide further assistance in ensuring her safe departure to her homeland," the Telegram channel said in a statement.

It is noted that the woman was rescued from the place of her illegal detention on June 6. Employees of the Russian diplomatic missions and the Russian Interior Ministry participated in this operation in cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of Myanmar and Thailand.

Against this background, the embassy once again urged fellow citizens to be skeptical about offers of supposedly high-paying jobs in Southeast Asian countries.

On May 5, the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission in Myanmar announced the release of two more Russian women from fraudulent call centers. It was noted at the time that Russian diplomats in Thailand were also involved in their rescue. The girls were provided with consular assistance and assisted in processing documents for their return to Russia. Three days later, one of them described the conditions in which she was kept. According to her, what was happening in the closed settlements resembled a real "conveyor belt of death", which was well guarded.
