The expert explained the teachers' poor attitude towards children from foster families

Teachers in schools do not have an understanding of how to interact with children with the experience of orphanhood, so it is very important to raise teachers' awareness in this area. This was stated on July 7 in an interview with Izvestia by Svetlana Stroganova, Director of Development at the Our Children Foundation.

The authors of the Federal State Educational Standard talked about how the program will change in grades 4-9.

Although the problem with negative attitudes towards orphaned children is not in school, but in society as a whole, the expert admitted.

"For example, a teacher lost her purse from her bag during recess. Guess whose mom the teacher will call? To the mother of the adopted child, that's right," said the interlocutor of the editorial office.

The general education system as a whole is not tailored to individual work with a child, the specialist added. And when children with psychological trauma engage in various defensive strategies, teachers mistake this for bad behavior, disrespect for the teacher, and so on.

"Sometimes strange solutions are offered, so to speak. I have a younger adopted son. Of course, there are problems at school. At one of the talks, the teachers suggested that he be sent to an orphanage. "For a while, until he gets smarter." Sometimes teachers do not have this understanding that an orphanage does not add intelligence, calmness and stability. It is very important, of course, to raise awareness that other tactics of interaction are needed with children with experience of orphanhood," Stroganova summed up.
