Tyumen authorities abandoned the floating stage on City Day
There will be no unique floating stage on the Ture River in Tyumen on City Day. The decision to abandon the main "feature" of the celebration was made due to the record summer flood, which flooded the embankment.
Prolonged flooding on the river made it technically impossible to install floating structures.
As told by the news agency "Hurrah.<url>" Vice Mayor Yana Zubova, the organizing committee optimizes the holiday locations due to the vagaries of the weather. It was decided to rely on the existing infrastructure.
So, the main locations will be the city square and the square of the 400th anniversary of Tyumen. The main stage will be open on Saturday and Sunday.
The agency writes that the embankment was originally planned to be one of the main venues of the celebration. In January, Maxim Afanasyev, the mayor of the city, said that artists would perform on the floating stage for three days.
However, in June, the water level in Tours began to rise rather than fall. In previous years, the river was shallow after the flood, and green islands appeared in the area of the bridges in the summer. Now the water level is approaching the 6 m mark, the first tier of the embankment is already under water.
Earlier in April, the Tura River flooded the embankment in Tyumen. The stairwells and descents to the water were already under water. In 2025, the first tier was flooded only in May.
