The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will speak in support of the Belgian national football team in the matter of lifting the disqualification of the US national team striker, whose removal was canceled by the International Football Federation (FIFA). This was reported by the Politico newspaper on July 6.

"FIFA's decision to suspend the one—match suspension of Folarin Balogan has caused anger in European football: both UEFA and the Royal Belgian Football Association are discussing further steps," an unnamed senior UEFA official was quoted as saying.

The authors of the article referred to the statement of the Belgian Football Association that the cancellation of the removal of the American striker contradicts the principle of fair play and sports competition. According to Politico, the association is considering options to challenge this decision.

Also, one of the FIFA vice-presidents, who wished to remain anonymous, told the publication that the decision to cancel Balogan's removal was a "complete disgrace" for the federation. It is emphasized that the decision on the "Balogan case" has caused a split in the internal FIFA apparatus.

On July 5, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend Balogan's automatic one-match suspension. The forward, who scored three goals in the current World Cup, received a red card in the 64th minute of the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which ended with a 2-0 victory for the Americans.
