Serbia has announced no plans to impose sanctions against Russia.

Serbia will never impose sanctions against Russia, despite the enormous pressure. This was announced on July 6, speaking at the XVI International Industrial Exhibition Innoprom, by Nenad Popovic, Minister without portfolio in the Serbian government in charge of international economic cooperation.

"We have not imposed and will never impose sanctions against Russia. We are under tremendous pressure, and it comes to real threats, political ones. We are resilient and we know who our friends are," he said at the Architecture of a Multipolar Industrial Partnership session, which was broadcast on RuTube.

Popovic also pointed out that although Serbia's main trading partner is the European Union, the situation is changing. Belgrade is aware that the Russian markets are promising, and the conditions under which energy resources from the Russian Federation are supplied to the republic are very beneficial. According to him, Russian supplies are the most reliable, and Serbia's energy sector largely depends on the Russian Federation.

Alexander Vulin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Serbiyagaz company, said on May 6 that attempts by EU countries to isolate Russia were futile. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, in turn, said that the imposition of sanctions against Russia would mean, in his opinion, a betrayal of the "soul" of the Serbian people.
