The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation intends to supplement the medical books of Russians with new information — citizenship and gender. The relevant changes are contained in the draft order of the department, which was reviewed by RIA Novosti on July 5.

A personal medical record is a document required for employment in professions related to contact with people, food and water. It confirms that the employee has no infectious diseases that are dangerous to others. Such a document is necessary for catering workers, teachers, counselors, doctors and pharmacists, flight attendants, beauty workers and other specialists.

Currently, the medical book contains the last name, first name, patronymic, position, date of birth, information about past infectious diseases, vaccinations and medical examinations. The draft order proposes to add two new items to this list — the nationality and gender of the owner.

In addition, the document provides for the postponement of the full transition to electronic medical books, scheduled for September 1 this year. Prior to the adoption of the new procedure, the issuance and maintenance of previously issued paper books will be allowed.

The Russian Ministry of Health has prepared a draft updated standard for the treatment of depression, TASS reported on July 1. According to the project, the list of possible treatments for depression may include electropuncture, electrical neurostimulation of the brain, transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroconvulsive therapy, as well as plasmapheresis, ultrafiltration of blood and low-intensity laser therapy, including intravenous blood irradiation.
