Starting from January 1, 2027, a new GOST for classic beer will come into effect in Russia. This was reported on July 6 in Rosstandart.

"The requirements for classic beer are laid down in GOST R 72295-2025 "Beer. General technical conditions", which will enter into force on January 1, 2027, with the right to early application," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

According to the new standard, beer is classified into light and dark, and according to the processing method it can be unpasteurized, pasteurized, filtered, unfiltered clarified, unfiltered unlit or subjected to cold sterilization.

The changes will ensure uniform requirements for the quality and safety of classic beer throughout the country, maintaining taste stability and production control.

On July 5, Rosstandart announced that a new state standard for beer drinks had begun operating in Russia. According to the new GOST, the permissible technological deviation of the volume fraction of ethyl alcohol is ± 0.5%. In addition, the requirements for foaming have been clarified, the rules for the use of sugar—containing raw materials have been updated, and the list of permitted ingredients - fruit, vegetable, grain, and aromatic - has been expanded.
