After the end of his second presidential term in 2027, French President Emmanuel Macron may be appointed to a position related to entrepreneur Xavier Niel, which will allow him to maintain political influence ahead of the 2032 presidential election. This was reported on July 5 by the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche (JDD), citing sources.

"Macron is considering the next steps during his five—year term, aiming to maintain influence until 2032. <...> One scenario is constantly being repeated: a specially created position, still unclear in details, associated with Xavier Niel," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the billionaire, who has been his supporter since 2017, can provide the French president with a platform to remain politically active during a period of uncertainty, and negotiations on this deal are allegedly at an advanced stage.
