Roman Vanin, a resident of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region, who returned from captivity, said on July 5 that he had been beaten for his nationality in a Ukrainian prison in Vinnytsia.

"The worst thing was in Vinnitsa. <...> In Vinnitsa, they were generally beaten there. For being Russian," he told RIA Novosti.

According to Vanin, the prison staff did not distinguish between prisoners of war and civilians. He noted that the guards entered the cells and beat all the people there with their hands and batons.
