Turkey named the topics of the NATO summit in Ankara
Among the main topics at the NATO summit in Ankara will be discussed issues of deterrence and defense of the North Atlantic Alliance, threats to the Euro-Atlantic region, as well as events on the southern flank of NATO and the Ukrainian crisis. This was announced on July 5 by Burhanettin Duran, head of the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidential Administration.
"In the context of the decision to increase defense investments, the steps taken and the efforts of the Alliance in the field of deterrence and defense from a 360-degree perspective will be considered. On the other hand, the leaders will hold a strategic exchange of views on threats, risks and challenges in relation to the Euro-Atlantic area; the situation in Ukraine and the latest developments in the south of the Alliance will be discussed," he wrote on his page on the social network X (former. Duran also said that on the first day of the summit, the presidential complex will host a reception and dinner on behalf of Turkish President Recep Erdogan and his wife for heads of state, governments and their spouses. The next day, the Turkish leader will chair a meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of the leaders of the allied countries.
Foreign Policy magazine reported on June 30 that European leaders are praying that there will be no surprises at the upcoming NATO summit in Turkey, where the American administration will be present.
