Russian ships arrived in Qingdao for the "Maritime Interaction — 2026" exercises
A detachment of ships of the Russian Navy from the Pacific Fleet has arrived at the Qingdao base in China to participate in the joint Russian-Chinese exercises "Maritime Interaction-2026". This was announced on July 5 by the press service of the Pacific Fleet.
"The military sailors of the Russian Navy and the Navy of the People's Liberation Army of China, with the support of naval aviation at sea, will improve joint rescue operations, as well as work out anti-submarine tasks and air defense, and conduct joint artillery firing," RIA Novosti quoted the text of the message.
It is reported that the Varyag Guards cruiser, the Sharp corvette, the Ufa diesel-electric submarine, and the Igor Belousov rescue vessel arrived in the waters of the Yellow Sea as part of the detachment. Rear Admiral Yevgeny Myasoyedov will command the Russian group within the framework of the "Maritime Interaction".
Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board, said on May 25 that the Russian Navy successfully ensures the safety of navigation, in particular ships carrying cargo in the interests of its state. He explained that the activity is conducted according to both the object and zonal principles. Russian military personnel, as the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation added, are strengthening control over the vessels and accompanying them on request in mobile firing groups.
