Kosachev pointed to Russia's role in protecting European values.

Russia today, unlike European countries, stands up for genuine European and universal values. This was announced on July 5 by Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council.

"I will say without any pathos or exaggeration, from my point of view, my country is now the real defender of European values," said the deputy chairman of the Federation Council in an interview with TASS.

He noted that in a number of European countries, in his opinion, there is a transformation of traditional social norms.

"We see what family and human feelings have become there in Europe. We keep all of this. This is a storeroom, I do not know, a reservation, in the good sense of the word, a place where these protected, primordial values, we can call them European or universal, are preserved in full," Kosachev said.

The Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council added that Russia can be proud of its multinational and multi-religious structure. According to him, 194 peoples live in the country, more than 300 languages are used, and four traditional religions and other confessions are represented.
