The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs reported on negotiations between business and the authorities to protect enterprises from drones

Russian business is discussing with the authorities the creation of early detection, warning and repelling drone attacks on industrial enterprises. This was announced on July 4 by the head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) Alexander Shokhin.

"Most importantly, we need to invest in a system for early detection, warning and repelling drone attacks. <...> We have no right to lag behind here," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to him, companies cannot independently provide full-fledged protection against aerial threats and need to coordinate efforts with the state. Shokhin noted that we are talking about the formation of an integrated system.

He added that such measures may require the creation of new mechanisms for interaction between enterprises, the Ministry of Defense and the regions. The issue, according to him, is currently under discussion.

Shokhin said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 26 that electronic warfare (EW) systems and laser installations could be used to protect industrial facilities from attacks. He noted that businesses are ready to finance such security measures, but this requires clear operating mechanisms and financing schemes.

After that, Putin instructed the presidential administration and the government to work with businesses on proposals to protect enterprises from drone attacks. It was clarified that key ministries, including the Ministry of Energy, are also interested in the discussion, since energy facilities are often the target of attacks.
