Ukraine has accumulated only half of the necessary gas reserves by winter

The gas reserves currently available in Ukraine are only half of the required amount of energy for winter. This was reported by TASS on July 4, citing data from the country's Ministry of Energy.

It is specified that coal reserves amount to 2.2 million tons. This amount is only enough for summer and autumn. The storage facilities currently contain about 7 billion cubic meters of gas with the required volume of 13.2 billion cubic meters.

The capacity of Ukraine's energy system also remains low: by the middle of summer, it is about 11-12 GW, with the required 18-19 GW in winter. It is specified that even with attempts to restore the energy system against the background of intense heat, Kiev is experiencing an electricity shortage of 1-2 GW.

It is also noted that the accumulation of energy resources is hampered by rising prices on European markets and high demand for gas in the EU countries.

The plan is designed for two years, the amount of funding will be 210 million pounds.

On July 1, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou stated that the European Union can no longer supply Ukraine with resources to repair damaged infrastructure in the context of the energy crisis, since it itself is in a similar situation.

On June 28, Sergey Kovalenko, the head of the Ukrainian energy company Yasno, warned residents of Ukraine about possible power outages due to abnormal heat. According to Kovalenko, every three degrees of warming in Kiev creates an additional load on the energy system of about 100 MW.
