Euractiv ridiculed anti-Russian sanctions in a satirical scenario in 2050

Euractiv, a publication specializing in European Union policy coverage, published a satirical article on July 3 in which it ridiculed the absurdity of anti-Russian sanctions, describing a hypothetical scenario in 2050.

"As usual, it is forbidden to ask questions. A ban is not necessary. The ban is unnecessary. After 136 packages, not a single journalist even tries to ask a question. <...> Unfortunately, this hypothetical scenario is only slightly less absurd than the real scenario of Europe. In fact, if the ninety—year-old president of the Commission is removed from office, the situation remains depressingly similar," the publication says.

The publication ironically notes that the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, allegedly announces the "137th package of sanctions", which provides for a ban on the export of German schnapps glasses, the entry of bear trainers and the import of borscht.

The authors of the publication note that the 21st package of sanctions of the European Union (EU) largely repeats previous measures and causes discussions. According to them, this sanctions policy indicates the ineffectiveness of Brussels' attempts to influence the end of the conflict. The publication also suggests that sanctions pressure can be increased, but it is claimed that it cannot change the situation with regard to Russia.
