Scammers have started offering remoters compensation for Internet expenses.

Fraudsters began contacting Russians working remotely with promises of "compensation" for the costs of home Internet and the use of technology. This was announced on July 4 by the press service of the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front.

"Scammers on social networks are looking for citizens who work remotely, and then call them or send messages allegedly on behalf of employees of the SFR or the Federal Tax Service with promises of large payments for using the home Internet, PCs or equipment rental," experts told RIA Novosti.

The scammers claim that citizens are allegedly entitled to large payments for using the home Internet, computer, or equipment rental, and offer to arrange "compensation" through quick identification on "Public Services." Fraudsters also request bank details, after which they gain access to user accounts and funds.

Moshelovka stressed that government agencies do not provide automatic compensation for the use of personal equipment and the Internet. The experts reminded that SMS codes cannot be passed on to third parties, as they give full access to accounts and bank accounts.

The main reasons are bankruptcy, fraud, or the seller's incapacity.

Representatives of the Servicepipe cybersecurity laboratory reported on July 3 how scammers use a new method of circumventing two-factor authentication with the selection of one-time SMS codes (OTP). It was clarified that this approach was identified as part of the analysis of a reflected SMS bombing attack that was directed at one of the company's clients.
