There was a temporary power outage at the Zaporizhia NPP

A temporary power outage occurred at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), as a result of which the station was powered by generators. This was announced on July 3 by the station's press service.

"330 kV Ferroalloy-1 high-voltage power transmission line <...> was disabled by automation as a result of enemy actions. As a result, the Zaporizhia NPP was powered by backup diesel generators for about two hours," the Telegram channel says.

It is noted that at the moment the electricity supply has been restored. There were no failures in the operation of the generators. With the return of external power supply, the units were put into standby mode.

The representatives of the IAEA located at the facility were promptly informed about the incident. The background radiation level both on the territory of the station and in the adjacent control area remains within the normal range.

The head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, at a press conference at the Obninsk New forum on the same day, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces aimed attacks on Energodar and the nuclear power plant to exhaust the plant's personnel for subsequent accusations against Russia. The head of the state corporation recalled that in recent weeks, the infrastructure of the station itself, as well as the energy facilities of Energodar, had become targets of attacks.
