The publication in The Wall Street Journal about the rift in relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia and Washington's desire to reduce its military contingent in the kingdom after the end of the Iranian campaign looks like another round of information propaganda or a bluff. This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by Danila Krylov, a researcher at the Department of the Middle and Post-Soviet East of the INION RAS, Candidate of Political Sciences.

He explained this by saying that the topic of the US-Iranian confrontation was boring, and the Israeli case was also not very interesting, so something new was needed. The source also asked why the reduction of the military contingent should become a problem in the current geopolitical realities.

"With the development of technology and the fact that the war is moving more into the space of unmanned aerial vehicles, both shock and anti—aircraft types, the question arises about the need for a large ground military contingent in a particular country," the political scientist said.

The Saudis, according to the expert, are guided by a rather rational logic: why would they participate in something that most likely won't last long, as it eventually did.

"I would not say that this is some kind of serious discord, that Riyadh is in danger of something. I think he's asking Washington questions about the joint air defense, missile defense, and drone defense systems, and the Americans need to find an answer. To this is added the Eastern European factor of NATO, Ukraine, and the G7. The Americans have to play both here and there, and neither here nor there is a winning way to end conflicts in order to stay on the horse and then reap the benefits of the world they will create," the analyst concluded.
