Alexey Zabotkin, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, said during the Financial Congress on July 3 that his red sock was not a signal to the market for a new key rate.

Zabotkin attracted the attention of journalists by his choice of clothes — at the congress session he appeared in socks of different colors — one yellow, the other red. After that, the media representatives asked if this gesture could be considered a signal for the financial market.

"No, I like bright colors," TASS quoted him as saying.

At the same time, a few years ago, the market tried to interpret rate signals through the brooches of Central Bank Chairman Elvira Nabiullina, recalls "Газета.Ru ".

The day before, Nabiullina noted that the Bank of Russia sees room for lowering the key rate in July, while the timing and pace of monetary policy easing will depend on the development of the economic situation. According to her, the regulator's forecast will be prepared in July, taking into account all relevant factors affecting the economy.

On June 19, the Central Bank decided to reduce the key rate by 25 basis points to 14.25%. As noted in the regulator, the trend towards easing monetary conditions remains, but their overall level remains tight.
