A high-speed train in Japan stopped after colliding with a bear

A high-speed Shinkansen train traveling from Akita to Tokyo was forced to stop urgently after colliding with a bear on railway tracks in Akita Prefecture, Japan. This was reported by The Japan News on June 30.

"The Akita Shinkansen high-speed train collided with a bear on the JR Ou line section between Wada and Ugo—Sakai stations in Akita Prefecture, which forced it to make an emergency stop," the publication says.

According to the Akita branch of the East Japan Railway Company, after the inspection, the specialists did not reveal any technical malfunctions. Soon, train traffic was fully restored. It is specified that at the time of the incident there were about 200 passengers and members of the train crew. None of them were injured.
