Experts spoke about the change of career priorities among young employees
Young professionals in the Russian Federation have become more likely to choose a moderate pace of work for the sake of maintaining mental health and financial stability. All the details are in the Izvestia article.
Reasons for changing priorities
The abandonment of the desire for rapid takeoff was the result of increased awareness of mental health. According to Boronkina, a business psychologist and head of the online school PUZZLE Academy of Psychological Excellence, the generation that grew up on the cult of achievement faced massive burnout, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. Now success is measured not by the speed of promotion, but by the quality of life and the strength to meet personal needs.
Boronkina notes that social media played an important role in this process. On the one hand, they popularized success stories, on the other, they contributed to an open discussion of professional crisis and psychotherapy.
"Success has ceased to be measured by the speed of advancement on the career ladder, and the quality of life has come to the fore, how much energy is left for oneself, loved ones and meaning. I'm working," Boronkina said.
Economic factors and stability
The behavior of young employees is influenced by the general economic uncertainty. The high cost of loans and rental housing forces specialists to minimize financial risks.
Evgenia Boltak, Head of the HR Department at Polylog Group, explains that the new understanding of success includes the ability to save up and not live under stress. Priority is given to companies that allow you to maintain a balance between career and personal life.
"Today, success is no longer just about a high position or salary. Rather, it is a situation where after all the mandatory payments, money remains, there is an opportunity to save up and at the same time not live in constant stress," Boltak explained.
Transformation of the labor market
Employers are also changing their approach to staff formation. A number of companies are cutting middle-level managers, relying on strong experts responsible for a specific result.
"In addition, professional recommendations and business connections are playing an increasingly important role: specialists are increasingly invited not only through work sites, but also on the recommendations of colleagues or partners," said Boltak.
Horizontal development, rather than the managerial ladder, is becoming attractive to specialists. Young people actively form a financial safety cushion, realizing that long-term sustainability depends on their professionalism, and not just on the title of the position in the resume.
