The auto expert explained the harm of idling for the engine
The regular idling of a car engine has negative cumulative consequences. Fuel consumption increases, deposits form faster in the engine and exhaust system elements, and the amount of harmful emissions increases. Tamashi auto expert Konstantin Ozhogin told about this on July 3.
"This is especially true for vehicles with direct fuel injection, turbocharged engines and exhaust gas purification systems that are designed to operate at operating temperatures," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Ozhogin as saying.
The expert noted that modern cars do not require long-term engine idling, and it makes no practical sense to leave the car with the engine running for 10-20 minutes without objective necessity. As a result of such parking, fuel is consumed, the engine is running in an inefficient mode, and the resource of the power unit is also consumed.
The expert pointed out that after starting the engine, 30-60 seconds are enough for the engine oil to be distributed to all nodes and form a protective oil film. Then you can start driving in a quiet mode until the internal combustion engine reaches operating temperature.
Expert Andrey Babushkin warned on July 1 that refueling a car on a regular basis with low-environmental gasoline, such as Euro-3, could lead to a number of technical problems that could not be eliminated by immediate action.
