The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation reported a 12% increase in vehicle sales over the past six months

In the first six months of 2026, 679.8 thousand vehicles (TC) under the age of three were sold in Russia, including passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, trucks and buses. This figure is 12% more than in the same period last year. This is reported in the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, which was received by Izvestia on July 3.

Sales of new vehicles manufactured in the Russian Federation increased by 29.3%, to 431 thousand units. Due to this, the share of domestic products in the total market increased to 63.4% in the first half of the year — more than 8% compared to the same period last year.

In the segment of hybrid and electric vehicles, the market volume for the first six months amounted to 54.3 thousand units, which is 90.7% higher than the same indicator last year. The share of such machines produced in Russian factories rose to 27.3%. Among the total new car market, electric vehicles and hybrids have taken a share of almost 8% in six months (compared to 5.4% a year earlier). 4,928 fully electric cars were sold (+7.9% YoY), the share of those manufactured in the Russian Federation was 48.3%.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade noted that in the first half of the year, the growth in total sales was mainly driven by the passenger car segment, which sold 610.3 thousand units (+15.9% YoY). At the same time, in June, compared with the previous month, an increase in sales volumes was observed in almost all major market segments. In early summer, the market for new vehicles amounted to 127.6 thousand units (26.4% compared to June last year). Compared to May of this year, the market also grew by 5.3%.
