The death toll from the earthquake in Venezuela has increased to 2,595 people. This was announced on July 2 by the Acting President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez.

"It was a natural tragedy on a scale that we could never have imagined, even though we knew that a seismic event could occur in our country," the Reuters news agency quoted her as saying.

Rodriguez did not specify the number of missing persons. Earlier it was reported about 2,295 dead and more than 11.2 thousand injured.
