Antalya authorities have urged tourists to report violations by taxi drivers.

The Turkish Antalya authorities have called on tourists, including Russian citizens, to immediately report cases of fraud and overcharging by taxi drivers. This was announced on July 3 by a representative of the municipality of the resort region.

The reason for the reaction was a video that spread on social media, which recorded a conflict between a foreign tourist and a taxi driver due to an alleged overstatement of the cost of the trip. The recording quickly gained hundreds of thousands of views and caused a public outcry.

"We urge all tourists, including guests from Russia, not to ignore cases of fraud or unscrupulous behavior of individual taxi drivers," the municipality said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It clarifies that all tourist requests are carefully checked, and when violations are confirmed, measures provided for by law are taken. The agency's interlocutor stressed that such cases negatively affect the region's tourism reputation.

Drivers offer to quickly take passengers to the hotel, but the cost of the trip may later be several times higher than usual.
