- The State Duma proposed to introduce a "grandmother's salary" for caring for children up to three years old
The leader of the Fair Russia party, Sergei Mironov, will submit to the State Duma a bill providing for monthly payments to grandparents who raise grandchildren under the age of three. The relevant document was reviewed by TASS on July 3.
The initiative proposes to set the amount of such payment at the level of the regional minimum wage (minimum wage) and implement it on a monthly basis.
"At the same time, the mother or father should not be on parental leave, and the child himself should be on full state support," Mironov explained.
In addition, the bill provides for the introduction of a monthly social payment in the amount of the minimum wage for unemployed parents in connection with the birth and upbringing of a child under three years old, since unemployment benefits are currently paid for 3-6 months, and this is often not enough to find a suitable job.
Nikolai Kolomeitsev, First deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, said on June 20 that working grandparents have the right to take leave to care for their grandson and receive a monthly allowance until the child turns one and a half years old. He noted that this right is enshrined in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. The condition for receiving payments is the employment of a relative and the absence of similar payments from the child's parents.
