The participation of the self-employed in the voluntary insurance system entitles them to payments upon the occurrence of an insured event. This was announced on July 3 by Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.

"(Voluntary insurance. — Ed.) makes it possible, upon the occurrence of an insured event in the form of illness, to receive appropriate payments within the framework of the provided system. And thus provides prosperity in the event that there is no opportunity to work, that is, if a person loses his ability to work," Kotyakov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The head of the Ministry of Labor stressed that participation in the system allows citizens to form social guarantees that will be provided by the state — in this case, we are talking about the payment of sick leave. According to him, Russians have already started using this system.

Gleb Yakovlev, Vice President of the All-Russian Union of Insurers, said on June 27 that from July 1, 2026, two types of life insurance will be introduced in Russia, including affordable insurance with a declared return. It was noted that life insurance with an estimated return will be available to Russians, the purpose of which is to maximize income for a citizen.
