For the first time in Russia, doctors at the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine performed a hybrid operation for a complex cerebral vascular aneurysm. This was announced on Thursday, July 2, by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in the Maks messenger.

Sobyanin said that a 43-year-old patient complained of vision loss in one eye at the Sklifosovsky Institute, Moscow 24 reports. The examination revealed a large aneurysm of the internal carotid artery, which compressed the optic nerve. The operation in the hybrid operating room was performed by a team of specialists, which included neurosurgeons and X-ray endovascular surgeons, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
The mayor said that the doctors managed to completely eliminate a complex aneurysm from the bloodstream, which allowed not only to prevent hemorrhage, but also to preserve the patient's eyesight.
Sobyanin stressed that this was the first time such an operation had been carried out in Russia. A day later, the patient was transferred from the intensive care unit, and ten days later she was discharged home.
In addition, the mayor noted that today the Sklifosovsky Institute is the largest multidisciplinary scientific and practical center for emergency, emergency and planned medicine. According to him, a new complex is currently being built, which will expand the possibilities of providing high-tech medical care within the framework of the national project "Long and active Life".
Earlier, cardiovascular surgeon and cardiologist Vladimir Khoroshev told Izvestia that an intracranial aneurysm, when the vessel wall protrudes, can be accompanied by impaired cognitive abilities and headache.
