- The expert reported a 15-30% increase in prices for auto parts since the beginning of the year.
Prices for automotive components have increased by 15-30% since the beginning of the year due to increased logistics, higher taxes and shortages of individual components. Roman Kartuzov, General director of the Russian representative office of the Korean manufacturer of automotive components CTR, told Izvestia on July 3.
According to him, in such conditions, import-dependent parts with complex production chains become more expensive faster than others. Among them are electronics for control units (microchips and sensors), high-turnover consumables, as well as critical engine components.
According to the expert, stabilizer bars, ball bearings, steering rails and thrust tips are steadily increasing in price. These components are parts of high demand, which means they leave the warehouse the fastest, which creates a local shortage and pushes prices up, he said. The price increase also affected brake pads and discs, especially components for European and Japanese brands. The increase in prices for timing belts and chains with components has increased in price by 40-70% over the past few years, depending on the car brand, the specialist noted.
"The growth has affected original parts for premium European brands — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo - the most. Prices are driving increased demand, as some components can be waited from one to three months. Components for Chinese cars are also becoming more expensive amid the rapid growth of their fleet in Russia. There is a local shortage of mass items in warehouses, and the search for spare parts for rare and age—related models of these brands has become more complicated," explained Kartuzov.
The expert recommended not postponing scheduled maintenance and not trying to save money by buying cheap analogues. A counterfeit or low-quality part, on average, fails two to four times faster than the original, he stressed and recommended buying running gear for cars in advance, such as brake pads, filters, shock absorbers and suspension elements. After a while, they will still be needed and may cost 10-30% more.
"The failure of one node provokes a chain reaction: a worn ball bearing destroys the bearing, poor-quality pads kill the discs, and so on. You can buy pads for 1 thousand rubles instead of 3.5 thousand, and after three months you will have to change discs for 12 thousand and pads again," Kartuzov gave an example.
As reported on July 1, in January – May 2026, the number of offers for car service workers in Russia increased by 61% year on year. The average remuneration offered was 69.2 thousand rubles per month.
