Cancer can develop even in those who lead a healthy lifestyle, but physical activity, a balanced diet and regular checkups can significantly reduce the risks. Kirill Masliev, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Preventive Medicine at RUDN University, told about this on Thursday, July 2.

"The body is an incredibly complex complex of processes, and the slightest breakdown in one place will have an unexpected effect on distant processes. Inflammation occurs, which develops into a chronic form and leads to undesirable changes. It can even be caused by a lack of certain trace elements," the doctor said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

According to the expert, one of the most effective ways to combat cancer is physical activity — they balance metabolic processes, regulate energy consumption, reduce insulin levels and promote the production of interleukin, which fights inflammation.

"The higher the immunity, the more often the cells of the immune system are renewed, which recognize and destroy mutated cells. It is their accumulation that causes cancer," Masliev said, adding that the elderly, as a risk group, should add moderate exercise, and above all long walking.

The doctor also highlighted vaccination against human papillomavirus, a proven risk factor for cervical cancer and a number of other tumors, among other preventive measures.

He added that regular routine checkups and medical examinations make it possible to detect metabolic disorders long before symptoms appear. Proper sleep is also important: during it, tissue repair, hormonal regulation and the work of the immune system take place.

The specialist recommended limiting ultra—processed foods, such as ready-made snacks, sugary carbonated drinks, and manufactured confectionery, as they contribute to weight gain, chronic inflammation, and metabolic disorders. According to the doctor, a diet with enough vegetables, fruits, whole grains and high-quality protein is considered as an element of prevention.

Earlier that day, infectious disease specialist Anastasia Burykina and obstetrician-gynecologist Sofya Grechishkina from the Alfskrin clinic dispelled popular myths about the human papillomavirus (HPV). Doctors stressed the importance of vaccination and screening for the prevention of cervical cancer. 360.ru .

Earlier, on June 26, Elena Bliznyuk, a lecturer at the Department of Fundamental Medical Disciplines at the State University of Enlightenment, an obstetrician-gynecologist, warned that redness and burning of the breast, as well as a change in its color to purple or purple, may indicate the rapid development of an inflammatory type of breast cancer, RT reports.

Oncologist Olga Kravchenko, in turn, said that skin cancer is one of the most common oncological diseases in the world, and its most common form of basal cell carcinoma is painless and goes unnoticed at the initial stages.
