New car prices in Russia have increased by 107% in 10 years
Over the past 10 years, average prices for new cars in Russia have more than doubled — by 107%. During the same period, the average cost of a used car increased 2.6 times, by 162%. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on July 2.
According to the analyst, the average price of a new passenger car in the first half of 2026 was 3.78 million rubles, and the average cost of a used passenger car was 1.36 million rubles.
According to the expert, there are practically no new cars cheaper than 1 million rubles left in Russia now — the share of such cars on classifieds does not exceed 2%, and many of the prices indicated there are only marketing ones. At the same time, more than half of the offers of used cars (56.6%) cost up to 1 million rubles. Most of these are old cars with high mileage and technical nuances.
The majority of new car offers (55.5%) are in the price range from 2 to 4 million rubles. More than a quarter (26.7%) cost more than 4 million rubles. Among used cars, the share of cars more expensive than 2 million rubles does not exceed 20%, another 5% of the market is occupied by models more expensive than 4 million rubles.
As reported on July 1, by the end of June 2026, prices for new cars have changed for five brands officially represented on the Russian market. In the first half of the month, prices decreased for two brands, increased for one brand, and another had a multidirectional price change. In the second half, one model went up in price, while the other went down in price.
