German citizen Medvedev was put on the wanted list in the case of a car scam.
German citizen Ilan Josef Medvedev, whose arrest was reported by the media in early June, has been put on the Russian wanted list. This became known to Izvestia on July 2.
He was charged with fraud on a particularly large scale. According to the investigation, he is one of the organizers of a large-scale scheme for the supply of luxury cars from Europe, the total damage from which can reach 1 billion rubles.
The investigation believes that the defendant, along with his accomplices, convinced friends to buy premium cars, promising to deliver cars to Russia at an undervalued price. However, as noted, none of the customers received vehicles.
As Izvestia found out, it is currently impossible to establish the location of the accused. It is clarified that in the case of Medvedev's departure from Russia, it may be difficult to achieve his extradition, since Germany does not extradite its citizens.
Lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky announced on June 2 that Medvedev had been detained in Moscow. He added that he was approached by his friend, one of the dealers of the Rolls Royce brand, with whom he intends to prepare civil lawsuits in the criminal case. According to him, the interrogations of the defendant were to begin soon.
