Soueast cars may be renamed Votour in Russia

The Soueast S06 crossover can change both the assembly plant in Russia and the car brand. The model is being certified under the new Russian brand Votour. This was reported on July 2 by the Chinese Cars portal.

According to him, the model will be assembled by the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg, Sestroretsk, which belongs to the AGR holding. Now the Soueast S06 is being assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad.

Previously, the name Votour had already appeared in the certification documents of Jetour and Soueast cars assembled in the Russian Federation as one of the possible variants of the commercial name. In 2025, the Votur Motor Rus company appeared in the country. The Soueast brand is part of the ecosystem of the Chery concern.

Soueast S06 sales started in Russia in April. This is the third and most compact model in the Russian line of the brand. The length of the car is 4616 mm with a wheelbase of 2720 mm.

The crossover is offered in front-wheel drive with a 1.5-liter turbo engine (147 hp; 210 Nm) and all-wheel drive with a turbocharged 1.6 (186 hp; 275 Nm). In the first case, a six—speed "robot" is combined with the motor, in the second - an eight-speed "automatic". The model is available in two trim levels, priced from 3.1 million and 3.48 million rubles.

Currently, the portfolio of the Russian holding AGR and the Chinese company Defetoo includes four new brands: Tenet, Jeland, Tenet Plus and Esteo. Below them are cars localized in Russia from brands that are part of the Chery concern.

The day before, the Tenet car brand announced the launch of sales of a new five-seat version of the T8 crossover. The price of the car starts from 3.1 million rubles. Previously, the Tenet T8 was offered only in a seven-seat version and with an all-wheel drive system.
