Pashinyan ruled out creating a crisis in Yerevan's relations with Russia

Armenia has never set and does not plan to set itself the task of creating a crisis in relations with Russia. This was stated on July 2 by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a briefing with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

"We have never set, do not set and will not set goals to create a crisis in relations between Armenia and the Russian Federation," Pashinyan said. His speech was broadcast by the agency Armenpress on the YouTube platform.

According to him, Yerevan acts based on the interests of Armenia. As the Prime Minister noted, the Armenian authorities do not ignore the interests of any of their international partners. At the same time, Pashinyan added that the country's leadership does not intend to stop its policy of rapprochement with the European Union (EU).

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin had a telephone conversation with Pashinyan yesterday, during which he discussed issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Moscow and Yerevan. It was noted that the conversation took place on the initiative of the Armenian side.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on June 26 that the behavior of the current Armenian authorities could not be described as good faith membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). She also noted that Yerevan needs to decide on a strategic choice between the EAEU and the EU as soon as possible.
