A technical accomplice of Ukrainian fraudsters was detained in St. Petersburg.

In St. Petersburg, the activities were stopped and the administrator of an illegal communications hub was detained, who worked in the interests of fraudsters from Ukraine. This was reported on July 2 in the press service of the FSB Directorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.

"The illegal activities of a Russian citizen involved in fraudulent activities using a SIM box and SIM cards have been suppressed. During the operational search measures carried out, it was established that the suspect was administering an illegal communication center (sim box) in the interests of Ukrainian call centers in order to commit fraudulent acts against Russian citizens," their statement said.

It is specified that over 1.5 thousand SIM cards, as well as other technical equipment, were found and seized from the attacker.

Now the man has already been detained, a criminal case has been opened against him in accordance with Part 3 of Article 274.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal use of a subscriber terminal for traffic or a virtual telephone exchange"). The issue of choosing a preventive measure for him is also being resolved. Investigative measures and the investigation into this case are still ongoing.

On April 21, the FSB's Public Relations Center reported that three interregional criminal groups had been suppressed in the Yaroslavl Region, which assisted fraudsters from Ukraine in stealing funds from Russians.
