The first direct flight from Tanzania to Russia landed in Vnukovo

On July 2, the first direct flight from Tanzania to Russia landed at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport.

The plane arrived in the Russian capital at 08:58 Moscow time from Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania. The flight was operated by Air Tanzania.

123 passengers were on board, said Dmitry Khlopushin, Deputy director of the Department of State Policy in the field of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. He called the start of direct air service between Tanzania and the Russian Federation a significant event.

"Today we have a significant event. <...> This was made possible thanks to the work of the Ministry of Transport, the Federal Air Transport Agency and distinguished colleagues from the Republic of Tanzania," he said.

Khlopushin added that the resumption of flights will allow citizens of Russia and Tanzania to discover new tourist routes.

On May 27, the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Andrey Nikitin, announced that Air Tanzania had received permission to operate flights on the Dar es Salaam – Moscow route. The minister noted that flights will be operated three times a week on Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Previously, Air Tanzania did not operate flights to Russia. The issuance of the permit was preceded by interstate consultations with the participation of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. Nikitin thanked the Tanzanian side for the constructive dialogue and stressed that the agency would continue to expand the international flight map in the interests of Russian citizens and foreign tourists.
