The head of the Ministry of Labor pointed out that there was no need to increase the May holidays

There is no need to increase the May holidays by reducing New Year's holidays. This was announced on July 2 by the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Russia Anton Kotyakov.

"I do not see the need to adjust the current legislation," he stated in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The head of the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation explained that now the country has a procedure for postponing all days off, which was defined by the Labor Code. According to these rules, weekends are allocated annually.

So, the ministry has already determined the days off from work for next year. The prepared draft is already at the approval stage. According to the plan, in 2027, Russians will have 11 New Year's Eve holidays and six more May holidays.

According to the draft production calendar, next year, Russian citizens will have only one six-day working week, which falls on the period from February 15th to 20th. The transformation of Saturday into a working day will allow the day off to be postponed to Monday, February 22, to celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day.
