The activist spoke about the reverent attitude of the city of Hemer to the monument to Pushkin

In the German city of Hemer, the stolen monument to the poet Alexander Pushkin was carefully treated, it was well cared for and the monument was in excellent condition. Anna Shperling, a Russian activist and member of the historical society Ar.kod.M e.V, told Izvestia about this on July 2.

"No one touched this monument, no one painted anything there, did not write any bad words on it. <...> That's if, even if something appeared, the city removed it immediately. That is, the monument was very well looked after. He was in excellent condition," the activist said.

She also expressed the hope that the monument was stolen for the sake of bronze, and not for political reasons or because of the poet's personality. According to her, the theft could have been carried out by the mafia, which operates throughout Germany and steals precious metals.

Sperling noted that the theft was probably very well prepared, as it would have taken several people and special equipment to dismantle the heavy bronze sculpture.

The theft of the monument to Pushkin was reported on July 1 by the Russian Embassy in Germany. It was clarified that the Russian diplomatic missions in Germany have already established contact with the city authorities of Hemer and local law enforcement agencies to clarify the circumstances of the incident. A reward of up to 1 thousand euros was announced for information about those involved in the crime.
