In the British city of Birmingham, a 16-year-old teenager was seriously injured in a shooting near a mosque. This was reported on July 1 by Sky News TV channel with reference to the local police.
"As a result of the shooting near a mosque in Birmingham, a teenager received potentially life—threatening gunshot wounds," the publication says.
According to journalists, the incident occurred at about 17:30 local time (19:30 Moscow time). The victim was urgently hospitalized. Doctors assess his injuries as life-threatening.
Police officers are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident. Information about the detention of suspects has not yet been received.
According to preliminary data from law enforcement agencies, the incident is not directly related to the mosque near which the shooting took place.
In Scotland, on June 20, five people were injured in an armed attack near a mosque in Edinburgh. The first attack took place in the western part of the city. Then the attacker managed to injure two men, as well as destroy a gas station and a pizzeria. As a result of the subsequent attacks, three more were injured.
