A man proposed marriage on the spire of the Empire State Building

Russian roofers Angela Nicolau and Ivan Beerkus climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York and fixed a banner with a quote about peace on the steeple.: "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world knows peace." Exactly how the couple was able to bypass the security system and get to the top of the building remains unknown. It is specified that after the young people climbed to the top of the building, the man took an engagement ring out of his backpack and proposed to the girl.

"The couple was later detained, and charges have not yet been filed. <...> Approximately 40 police officers arrived at the building and regulated traffic," the publication says.

According to Article 167, paragraph 10 of the New York Administrative Code, the couple faces imprisonment or a fine for climbing the Empire State Building. A fine and imprisonment can be imposed together, the document indicates.

On December 24, 2025, CBS reported that in the city of White Settlement in Texas, police are looking for two men who tried to steal an ATM from a store, causing significant damage to it. It was clarified that the attackers, who arrived in a stolen SUV from Dallas, tied a metal cable to the ATM and tried to pull it out, abruptly starting to move.
