The use of second-hand breast implants in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery is strictly unacceptable due to the high risks to the health of patients. Kira Kopylova-Lehman, an aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon at the Scandinavian Health Center, told Izvestia about this.

She explained that the implant is a sterile medical device, and after being extracted from the tissues, it is considered contaminated because it was in contact with the biological environment of the body.

"It is no longer possible to restore sterility. Plus, when the implant shell is removed, it almost always gets micro—injuries that are not visible to the eye, and then they rupture," the surgeon emphasized.

The specialist urged women not to consider the possibility of installing such products, as without a passport, serial number and manufacturer's warranty, this poses a direct threat to health. Among the main risks, she identified infection, suppuration, rejection, rupture, and capsular contracture (thickening of the tissues around the implant).
