The State Duma reported an increase in the minimum wage in Russia above the inflation rate

The rate of indexation of the minimum wage in Russia is faster than the actual inflation rate. This was announced on July 1 by Yaroslav Nilov, head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

"Our minimum wage is growing at a higher rate than the actual inflation rate. There is an instruction from the president, there is a plan for a phased increase in the minimum wage. The minimum wage is set annually," the deputy said in an interview with TASS.

The parliamentarian clarified that this year the minimum wage was indexed by almost 20%, while the inflation rate was less than 10%. According to him, this measure concerns about 4.5 million citizens of the country.

Nilov also recalled that the regions have the right to independently set the minimum wage in the subject, but its amount cannot be lower than the minimum wage established at the federal level.

On June 21, State Duma deputies led by Nilov proposed to consolidate minimum wage guarantees for full-time medical workers. The measure is aimed at ensuring a decent level of wages and the formation of an understandable system of guarantees for health workers. Nilov stressed that linking to the federal minimum wage would create a single and transparent wage benchmark across the country, regardless of the region.
