The United States announced a change in approach to the settlement in Ukraine

The United States has changed its attitude towards the conflict in Ukraine: instead of opposing Russia, they have chosen a diplomatic settlement vector. This was stated on June 28 by John Mearsheimer, a professor at the University of Chicago, in an interview with retired Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis of the US Army.

"You won't hear from [U.S. Secretary of State Marco] Rubio or other administration officials that we have to defeat Russia. This is not the same approach that we used at the beginning of the conflict, when we talked about actually knocking the Russians out of a number of great powers. <...> Rubio's argument is that we need to resolve this conflict. <...> It needs to be resolved diplomatically," said the professor. on the air, which was hosted on Davis' YouTube channel.

Mearsheimer noted that he sees no evidence that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are somehow changing the situation at the front or were able to reverse the course of hostilities.

"As I said before, I think the Russians are clearly winning. <...> They're doing well," Mearsheimer added.

During a new telephone conversation, Putin and Trump discussed the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and agreed on the visit of Witkoff and Kushner to Russia.
