The WSJ learned about Trump's choice between war with Iran and diplomacy

American leader Donald Trump abandoned the idea of returning to attacks on Iran, choosing diplomacy. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on June 30, citing sources.

"Trump told his aides that, in his opinion, another round of full—scale attacks could disrupt diplomacy and undermine Washington's chances of finally destroying Iran's nuclear program," the publication says.

According to sources, Trump held talks with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane about new strikes, but decided to stick to the diplomatic direction.

In addition, the publication added that Trump does not object if negotiations with Iran go beyond the August 18 deadline for the nuclear deal.

On June 28, the naval and air forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked American military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones in response to US strikes. The US military had previously struck targets associated with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.

A member of the office of Iran's former supreme leader Habibollah Fazaeli said on June 28 that Tehran had canceled technical talks with Washington scheduled for Sunday due to an exchange of strikes between Iranian forces and the US military in the Strait of Hormuz.
