Reconstruction of treatment facilities in Buryatia is of high importance for the ecosystem of Lake Baikal. This was announced on June 30 by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
During a working trip to the Republic of Buryatia, the Deputy Prime Minister, together with the head of the region, Alexei Tsydenov, assessed the pace of reconstruction of the right-bank sewage treatment plants in Ulan-Ude. The capacity of the complex as a result of the reconstruction of the first stage of the second launch complex will be 130 thousand cubic meters. m per day. Here, in particular, mechanical wastewater treatment, bio-purification, disinfection and sludge treatment will be carried out.
Patrushev also checked the progress of the construction of sewage treatment plants in Severobaikalsk via video link and held a meeting on the construction of sewage treatment plants in the region. The modernization of these facilities, as well as in Ulan-Ude, is carried out within the framework of the federal projects "Preservation of Lake Baikal" and "Water of Russia".
"Today, together with the Minister of Natural Resources and the head of the region, we have already visited the sites directly. Both projects have high social significance. The quality of life of more than half a million residents of the region largely depends on their full-fledged work. In addition, the quality of wastewater, of course, affects the state of Lake Baikal and its ecosystem. Therefore, we are all interested in the implementation of these projects," the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
Patrushev and Tsydenov also visited the V.R. Filippov Buryat State Agricultural Academy. It is one of the leading agricultural universities in the east of the country, providing training and retraining of agricultural, veterinary, engineering, economic specialists and scientific personnel for the agro-industrial complex.
The Academy specializes in medicinal crop production. The educational institution is developing technologies for the cultivation of medicinal herbs (calendula, milk thistle, chamomile, and others). Studies of fodder, grain and vegetable crops are carried out at the experimental sites.
More than 6 thousand students study at the university. They create and implement advanced solutions for the sustainable development of rural areas in the Far East and Siberia. So, as part of the implementation of the federal project "Priority 2030. Far East" plans to create standardized medicinal raw materials, phytopreparations, biologically active additives and functional food products based on medicinal raw materials at the academy's site.
In the field of intelligent technologies using drones, the creation of reference datasets for precision farming systems and forest ecosystems based on neural network models and many other promising projects. In addition, the university actively cooperates with leading agro-industrial companies in Russia, giving students the opportunity to consolidate their acquired skills and put their scientific achievements into practice.
Patrushev reported in August last year that 15 billion rubles would be allocated to eliminate accumulated environmental damage in the territory of the former Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill. During the meeting with the Irkutsk Region authorities, the Deputy Prime Minister paid special attention to the Baikal development program. Patrushev oversees it in the government of the Russian Federation. In particular, issues of energy and heat supply, tourism development and ecology, including the clearing of water bodies and coastal protection, were considered.
