In 2026, men are noticeably more likely than women to post resumes in search of a new job. According to experts, this difference is due to the peculiarities of the employment structure and social factors. This was told to Izvestia by sociologist, director of the Association of Organizers of Student Olympiads "I am a professional" Valeria Kasamara.

According to Avito Jobs, gender differences remain one of the factors influencing the activity of applicants. In January – May 2026, the number of resumes published by men increased by 69%, while the increase among women was 37%.

As sociologist Valeria Kasamara noted in a conversation with Izvestia, this gap is primarily due to the fact that men are more likely to work in industries most susceptible to the effects of the economic downturn.

"A key example is construction: according to Rosstat, the volume of construction work in the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 10% compared to the same period last year. Women are more likely to work in the public sector (education, healthcare, culture), where the risks of cuts are lower, and salaries are growing more slowly but more steadily," Casamara gave an example.

In addition, the expert added, women's professional mobility is limited by additional social factors, including the need to take care of children.

According to Casamara, the difference in the activity of men and women in the labor market in 2026 is explained not only by economic conditions, but also by structural features of employment and social factors.
