A surgeon in his area saved a Marine with a bullet through his heart and lung

The senior surgeon of the 810th Separate Guards Marine Brigade with the call sign Associate Professor saved the life of a serviceman who was wounded in the Sumy area. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta on June 30.

The candidate of medical Sciences operated on the Marine at the very front line immediately after the victim was taken from the positions. A shell fragment pierced the chest and lung.

"It's a rare case. A fighter was brought in a week ago. A piece of shrapnel pierced his chest, heart, and got stuck in his left ventricle. Punctured a lung, too. They don't usually survive with such wounds. But we operated on him, sewed him up, and he's alive," said the Associate Professor.

According to the surgeon, such wounds are considered fatal in medical practice. Describing the success of the intervention, the medic noted that in this situation, the "stars have formed" in favor of the wounded soldier.

At the medical stabilization center, the soldiers are being treated before being sent to the hospital.

The day before, the Russian Defense Ministry said that military medics of the 5th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Guards Army of the Center group of forces also provide daily assistance to wounded soldiers in the Dobropolsky area. The ministry noted that the work of evacuation groups is not inferior to the combat work of stormtroopers in terms of risk.
