A new public space will be created in the historic building of the fan depot on Komsomolskaya Square in Moscow. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his channel in the Maks messenger.

He noted that the Moscow authorities are implementing the project together with Russian Railways. The facility is currently at the design stage. Repair work is expected to begin before the end of 2026.

Sobyanin noted that one of the key tasks is to convert the building into an exhibition area, while preserving the authentic appearance and brickwork of the facades. The authors of the project proposed using the platform and tracks of the Kazan Railway Station in the overall ensemble, which are not used for their intended purpose today. In particular, it is planned to place samples of modern rail equipment on the tracks during thematic exhibitions.

A playground for seasonal events, including fairs of the Summer in Moscow project, will be set up in the courtyard. It is also planned to comprehensively improve the territory on an area of more than 15 thousand square meters. m. A walking area will be laid out here, which will connect the exits from the Komsomolskaya metro station with the Depot gastronomic space. Verandas for cafes and multi-level terraces, green areas will appear on the territory.

"The Fan Depot will become a vibrant, dynamic space where Moscow's history adorns the present and inspires the future," Sobyanin is confident.
