Lidia Sadulayeva, an ophthalmologist at the 3Z Moscow clinic, told on Tuesday, June 30, what dangers a person's eyes can face during the summer season.

According to the expert, it is at this time that an increase in eye injuries occurs: people often complain that they injured their eyes with branches of trees or shrubs, as well as that plant pollen, fungal spores, hogweed juice or chemicals got into their eyes.

People also go to the doctor with complaints of eye burns. This happens if they work outside for a long time on a sunny day without UV-filtered glasses or a wide-brimmed headdress or a visor, she added.

The doctor recommended collecting a small set of useful protective equipment before going to the cottage: sunglasses marked UV 400, safety glasses for working with tools and chemicals, as well as a sterile solution for rinsing eyes in case of dust or foreign objects.

If the eye is injured, it is better to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible, Sadulayeva emphasized.

"Pain does not always reflect the severity of the injury: micro—injury to the cornea or a small hemorrhage may not cause significant discomfort for a long time, but it may progress," the doctor concluded in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

On April 30, Oksana Kuznetsova, chief physician of the 3Z Ophthalmological clinic, warned about the threat to vision due to prolonged work behind the screen. According to her, not only prolonged screen work, but also poor workplace lighting and insufficient distance from the monitor contribute to an increased risk of developing dry eye syndrome, computer vision syndrome, myopia and spasm of accommodation. The doctor recommended to ensure the correct position of the screen — it should be located at a distance of 45-70 cm from the eyes — and to improve the lighting — to ensure uniform, lateral and diffuse, as well as glare-free on the monitor.
