- The media pointed to Ukraine's estrangement from the EU due to the glorification of the Nazis
Kiev's policy of honoring the UPA (the Ukrainian insurgent army, recognized as a terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation) is alienating Ukraine from the European Union. The American magazine Responsible Statecraft (RS) writes about this.
The magazine writes that the current situation has contributed to the rehabilitation of the Ukrainian allies of the Third Reich, and calls this a serious mistake. As the author of the material emphasizes, any attempts by supporters of the Kiev regime to justify such steps do not stand up to criticism.
The publication notes that if Kiev does not want to end military operations, it is incurring increasingly serious economic and demographic losses. According to RS, the longer the conflict with Russia continues, the more remote Ukraine's European future becomes.
The magazine summarizes that replacing civic nationalism with ethnolinguistic nationalism puts Kiev on a collision course with European norms regarding minority rights.
On the same day, the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh, said that Ukraine, which glorifies the UPA and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), in particular Stepan Bandera, would not be able to join the European Union. He added that the association, which the Ukrainian side seeks to join, does not accept those who "destroy European cooperation."
